Context

Every fast-growing company needs QA that scales. I lived it at every company I joined, including Docker. So I went to to design the product solving this for teams at Figma, Stripe, Cursor, and OpenAI (via Statsig).

Role

I work closely with the CEO, engineering managers, and director of AI to define product strategy and UX direction.

From flow charts to AI-generated prototypes – I use whatever tools are best for the job to push our product forward and try to redefine QA in the developer's workflow.

(QA should be easy...and even fun!)

Process & tools

Show, don't tell

I love starting off async communications by showing potential experiences as close as possible to how we envision it.

I regularly use a combination of Loom and Figma prototypes to communicate the ideal experience, first.

Loom Rewind 2025: Party Starter, top 3%, 226 recordings, and 339 meetings eliminatedLoom 2023: The All Star, top 3% of recorders, 230 videos recorded, and 301 meetings eliminated
Was a top 3% Loom recorder from 2023-2025

Then, I write up the details in a spec to communicate the context (and rationale behind design decisions), various states, interactions, component variants, and other details to help engineers review the proposal and start to iterate with me on it.

Providing organized thinking allows for productive live jam sessions.

I worked with a lean engineering team, shipping, learning, and pivoting as we figured out the easiest, most maintainable way to get more test coverage for an app or site.

Eager to adopt, quick to evaluate

I'm always experimenting with new tools – AI or otherwise – and I'm quick to figure out where they shine. Depending on what I'm trying to communicate or figure out, I might be noodling within Figma, spinning up a quick prototype, doing deep research with Claude Code/Codex planning, or getting my thoughts out with pen and paper. Whatever lets me iterate and experiment faster.

Impact

I joined QA Wolf as their second designer at the time. I started under the other designer, but got re-orged to be under Jon (CEO who also fulfills the CTO role) to focus more on product on top of my design work.

My product strategy initiatives and UX plans are regularly prioritized by the CEO, who is a great partner to pair on projects with, thanks to his technical background and previous CTO experience.
